Orchard Play
by Lindsey Hoyt
In a house where I live, out my window I see...
Seven mischievous crows in a walnut tree.
A fox who's content to bury his grub,
a cow drinking long from an ol' bathtub.
A hawk flying high spots a cunning prey,
an owl who sleeps the day away.
Lizards who crawl under rocks on our lawn,
wild cats who begin their nap with a yawn.
A bobcat who bounds over green hills steep,
a duck who swims in a pond knee deep.
In this orchard where all these animals play,
here it is home and here they will stay.
The feelings I get when these things I see,
a sense of happiness comes over me.
